Service Line Inventory Letters

In January 2023, the White House announced a goal of replacing all lead service lines within 10 years.  The annoucement prompted the State of Indiana to require annual letters to be mailed requesting customers complete a survey to collect the material of each water user's service line.  These letters contain standarized wording, with not all wording applying to all utilities.

Stucker Fork Water does not install service lines from the meter to the home/business; therefore, Stucker Fork is not responsible for any fees associated with determining the type of line used.

The letter does not state that the water provided to you contains lead.  All of our service lines are lead-free and in compliance.  However, if you have lead pipes from the meter to the home/business, you could be getting some amounts of lead in your water.

According to 120Water.com, structures built after March 1, 1987 can be classified as non-lead.  This date is when the State of Indiana banned the use of lead pipes in new construction.

We apologize for the concern this has caused many of you.  We can assure you that the water you are provided by our company meets all state/federal regulations.
